Yamaha signs MoU with Jharkhand Government on Skill Development

India Yamaha Motor (IYM) on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Higher, Technical Education & Skill Development and Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society, Government of Jharkhand for providing 2 years on-the-job shop floor training to the youth at its factories in Surajpur, Uttar Pradesh and Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Mr. Raghubar Das, Mr. Ravi Ranjan, Mission Director of Jharkhand Skill Development Mission, Mrs. Neera Yadav, Minister of Higher, Technical & Vocational Education and Skill Development, Mr. Rajesh Kumar Sharma, Secretary, Department of Higher, Technical & Skill Development Mission of Jharkhand Government. Among the senior management members from IYM who were present on the occasion included Mr. Yukihiko Tada, Director, IYM and Mr. Om Prakash, Vice President, IYM.

Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Neera Yadav, Minister of Higher, Technical & Vocational Education and Skill Development, said “Skill Development is one of the most important focus areas of our Government. Through these collaborations, we are hopeful that more and more industries will come forward and extend their support in the realization of the National Skill Development Mission. We will continue to identify opportunities which can provide attractive and sustainable livelihood opportunities for our youth.”

In addition to this program, Yamaha also runs Yamaha Motor NTTF Training Centre (YNTC) at its Chennai facility since 2017 which provides two-year Certificate Program in Manufacturing Technology followed by a 2 year Diploma Program. Two batches have been successfully inducted in 2017 and 2018 comprising of 40 students in each batch. YNTC is the 1st Japan-India Institute of Manufacturing (JIM) which is a collaboration between the Governments of Japan and India along with Japanese companies to create a pool of skilled manpower for manufacturing units in India.
