Sneha Kulkarni’s association with riding began when
I have been riding scooters since I was 16 years old, but that was mainly for commute. My real love for motorcycle adventures started in Dec 2016 when I rode my husband’s RE 535 Lightning. The feeling was too good to let go. I seriously started considering riding motorcycles as a hobby. Biggest influencer in getting me into riding has been my husband Sachindra. He was planning to complete the Leh Ladakh circuit and asked me to join him.
While I excelled in excitement, I had no touring experience. Training began in February 2017 and I covered approximately 2500kms across Leh Ladakh in July 2017 with the Mahindra Mojo as my companion. There has been no looking back ever since and would prefer to go on my Mojo rather than a luxury car anywhere because you see… Mojo goes everywhere!!!
Sneha Kulkarni – previous rides
I learnt riding on a Hero Puch and have also owned Bajaj Caliber, Honda Dio and Honda Aviator
My options were ..
Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500
Royal Enfield Himalayan
KTM Duke 200
Initially Mojo was never in the list !!
I chose my current bike because
Sneha Kulkarni:
I wanted a bike that is reliable and can get me respect on the road at a price that I can afford. something that is reliable, with less break downs, easy maintenance and riding pleasure. After test riding several bikes out of compulsion (by my husband) I agreed to test ride a Mahindra Mojo XT . One long ride on Mojo and I have been in love with the bike ever since. I don’t feel the fatigue even when i ride more than 500 kms in a day or more than 3-4 hours without break – thanks to amazing seating posture and suspension set up. What wowed me was the performance of the bike – no vibrations, even at 120+ speeds.
I realised during Leh ride, that fuel capacity definitely matters and this beast comes with a 21 litre tank – so no need to refuel frequently. Its a bike that can take any terrain – be it highways, off-roads or broken tarmac. In my view its a bulletproof bike. During the Leh ride, the bike did not have a single breakdown, not even a single issue because of high altitudes.
There were few riders who fell multiple times and yet the bike was not damaged at all – thanks to the build quality. I myself fell in a high current river crossing twice and the bike started without a cough.
Sachindra:
Mojo is a complete package in the segment. Its got all the features of a superbike – adequate power, perfect gear ratios, USD forks (ours is a XT) with longest travel, bulletproof engine and overall build quality top notch. So once I researched and test rode.. decision was pretty easy – Mahindra Mojo
The number of kilometers clocked so far..
With my professional and personal commitments, its hard to find time. I have clocked 25000+ kms , on my Mojo, majority of which has been long distance.
My most memorable rides that are on top of my mind are
Sneha:
Mountain Trail – 2017 organized by Mahindra – well planned route, fantastic logistics and great company. We made some “friends for life” during this expedition. Mojo won my heart during the ride several times with its reliability and performance.
Coorg – an impromptu ride with a close group of friends to Coorg. I was still a novice, trying to find my footing through twisties and off-roading. On this ride with my friends, I came out of my comfort zone and explored terrains. This in a way was the foundation to the biker that I am today.
Dharwad to Bangalore in 6 hours with just one break of 20 minutes that too amidst heavy fog. This was the most beautiful ride with visibility less than 200 meters. I thoroughly enjoyed the ride with my husband.
Sachindra:
Has to be Leh and Ladakh. The terrain, the mountains and the motorcycle. They were all in perfect sync. Nothing comes close to Himalayas and that too with wind in your hair.
I would recommend/ Not recommend that girls/ ladies buy this bike because
Sneha:
I highly recommend the bike for any aspiring motorcyclist who wants to tour. In my opinion, Royal Enfield has a strong branding, because of which most people do not consider the Mojo even for a test ride. However, once anyone test rides the Mojo they will surely go for it. I recommended this bike to more than 10 people who were planning to buy a bike and almost everyone bought the Mojo after test riding it.
Sachindra:
Contrary to popular belief that heavy bikes are difficult to manage, one should ride the Mahindra Mojo to discover the great weight balancing and ease of maneuverability added by awesome riding pleasure.
