Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid – The SDM ride experience
33.7kms from Wakdewadi to Nigdi & back with a pillion on a Sunday late morning ride. This is like throwing a tin can on an alien aircraft after giving it a Virus. So how do you un-think an aggressive wrist to adapt? Simple, keep it steady. So, for most part, unless where the photographer needed this ride is steady. Staying in the eco zone irrespective of the obstacles, well almost. The bike handles well in traffic, allowing me to ride while the photographer captured his pictures.
The Fascino stays calm and poised. Not much of bumps transferred to us. The scooter with some alien buttons took one traffic signal and on the go training from the Yamaha technicians who also participated as Marshals for the ride. Keep the AutoStart button activated. At a stops the Fascino auto-cuts off. Open the throttle and it goes! Wait, what? sounds like an EV. No switch off or toggling with the ignition, just rev and go!!
Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid – The “Shandaar Dumdaar Mileage” ride results
A total of 12 participants with most of the riders being ladies. The winner of this contest, Snehal Taywade struck a 115kmpl score to take the top honors. We scored a humble 88kmpl with a pillion. Without a pillion this means 101.2kmpl considering 15% increase at best, for this steady run.
This translates to a lot of kilometres over a few litres. the power and control offered while on the old Mumbai-Pune Highway is confidence inspiring. This, specially when half of the participants are on the other side of 90kmpl. Having said that, the erstwhile millennial can go on a weekend trip on a full tank and back. Hence, saving time on fuel stops and breaks during the journey.
Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid – Lasting impressions & note of appreciation
Keeping a steady wrist after travelling across town on an almost 200kg Mammoth on an aggressive throttle indeed is an exercise for the muscle memory. Also, the overall comfort and stance is akin to India’s leading scooter brand. This immediately puts anyone upgrading to the Fascino in their comfort zone.
The Simplicity of the product is evident with the participation of the elderly Gentlemen at this ride. Speaking of which, after a good 48 hours from the ride time writing this experience makes the scooter one to shortlist and not strike off. We at The Upshifters India thank Yamaha Motor India for the Invitation and our hosts, Yamaha Blue Square – The Spirit Automotive, Pune at this event.
