Mumbai Falcons Rising – The story so far…

Mumbai Falcons’ first International event started on a difficult note with both cars facing technical issues during pre-season testing. This put the team on the back foot entering qualifying. Jehan qualified fourth for race 1, while Kush was eighth. Jehan had a good start in race 1 from fourth and soon moved up a place into third. Chinese racer Guanyu Zhou led from pole to comfortably win the race. Jehan eventually finished third behind Roy Nissany. Kush was unfortunate to be hit by another car and had to pit, which put him at the back of the entire field.

Mumbai Falcons Rising – going for “Seconds”..

Kush clocked the second fastest lap time in Race 1 which meant that he started second for Race 2. An unlucky brake issue saw Kush barely move fifty meters down the track, at the start of the race. Jehan lost a few positions on the opening lap & recovered well later, to finish seventh. Zhou once again won the race.

Race 3 saw Kush get a fantastic start. Four cars were side by side entering the first corner and all had contact. Zhou retired while Kush had to pit to repair damage, to re-join at the back. Jehan’s car momentarily went airborne and spun him around. The young Indian managed to get his car started & re-joined in eighteenth. From there on Jehan drove a brilliant race. On a circuit with few overtaking opportunities, the 22 year old was practically overtaking a car a lap.

Mumbai Falcons Rising – Life begins at 18!

From eighteenth Jehan steadily climbed up the order and was by far the quickest driver on track. Some excellent racecraft found Jehan get into the points and eventually finish in seventh position. Jehan’s phenomenal pace meant he also had the fastest lap of the race, which was almost 3 tenths of a second faster than any other racer on track. French racer Pierre Louis Chovet won the race ahead of Sweden’s Ferrari Academy racer, Dino Beganovic. Williams F1 Junior, Roy Nissany was third.

Mumbai Falcons Rising – Word from the team

“I had the pace to win race 3, but unfortunately there was an incident at the start. I was lucky to avoid any serious damage. Coming from the back was tough, but I really enjoyed overtaking so many cars. The podium in Race 1 was good to have but, I am confident we will do better in the remaining rounds.” said the multiple F3 winner, Jehan Daruvala

Kush Maini added “Its been a weekend to forget for me. However the strong take away is that we had good pace & I am confident we will get better. The team worked hard together to overcome the initial issues.”

“This was our very first weekend of International Racing. There were a few hiccups, however these are now behind us. We have shown we have the speed & we hope for a strong showing in the remaining rounds” said Moid Tungekar, CEO of Mumbai Falcons.

Jehan currently lies seventh in the driver’s standings on 27 points. The championship now moves to Yas Marina Formula 1 Circuit at Abu Dhabi, for 2 back to back events, next week.
