Yamaha R15-M Review: Fearlessly Yours, Her-Anonymously
June 19, 2024I am.. A brief introduction about yourself
I am her on bike, your friendly neighbourhood biker girl and owner of a Yamaha R15-M! I turned 21 recently and am passionate about biking and racing since I was young. I resolved to throttle therapy when I had no other escape. But within that I found peace.
My association with riding began when .. How you started riding motorcycles.
I began riding when I was 15 years old, borrowing bikes from my friends and begging them to teach me. It was a sheer passion I wanted to learn and was very eager too. I would step out at nights while the streets were empty and practise whenever I could.
My previous rides were..2 wheelers you owned before the Yamaha R15-M
I currently own a Yamaha R15-M and owned the Yamaha MT-15 before.
My options were ..other two wheelers you had short-listed
For some reason , when I rode my friends Yamaha R15, I instantly fell in love with it and was determined to get the same. I did not consider any other bikes as such and had my eyes set.
I chose my current bike because
- The reason I got the R15M was because I wanted to get a feel of riding a sports bike as I dream to own a Kawasaki Ninja ZX10-R someday.
- Also, I wanted to learn new skills in racing, after doing some research I was assured the R15 is the best machine to step into racing with.
The number of kilometres clocked so far on the Yamaha R15-M Review (total kilometres done on odometer)
I have currently clocked 6,000 kms on the machine in a time span of approximately 7-8 months.
My most memorable rides on the Yamaha R15-M.
The most memorable ride was from Pune to Goa and back. I was quite hesitant as to how it would go as R15 is not the best for long rides. However, we had completed the ride in 7 hours 30 mins with a back pain and sore shoulders but a happy and satisfied heart.
I would recommend/ Not recommend that girls/ ladies buy Yamaha R15-M because
Girls that are short and are absolute beginners can definitely consider this bike as it is forgiving and easy to learn on. It’s also pocket friendly and the best in the segment along with great mileage for the daily commute. It also faces no heating issues and is very easy to maintain. Plus its super light!
However, it can cause pain on the shoulders and palm during traffic and long rides as the position is very committed. Overtime, the bike can feel a bit underpowered but is the best to learn and polish your skills on.
Yamaha R15-M: some keys features that we’d like to mention:

- Carbon-like seat cover material (Rider & Pillion) and embroidered logo on the pillion seat

- Golden colour Brake Calliper
- Newly designed Trip/Info button positioned on the right handlebar, to toggle between display modes and info shown.
- The new fairing design reduces the coefficient of aerodynamic drag (CdA) from 0.307 on the current model to 0.293.
- Reinforced subframe to tune the chassis’ balance.
- Redesigned Seat for easy weight shifting, good hold and easy ground reach.
The Yamaha R15-M YZF-R15 range is powered by:
