Hero Xpulse 200 4V Review – Still HER first choice?

I am…

I am Poulami Purkayastha. I am from Tripura where I manage my business. Growing up I spent lot of time in Pune as I did my schooling from there. So I have a deep attachment with Pune and I keep visiting the city often. At the beginning of writing this review I was prepping my journey. Yes, I am currently riding from Pune to Tripura on my Hero Xpulse 200 4V along with my riding & soul mate aka my husband.

My association with riding began when …

My association with riding began when I used to see my eldest sister riding and driving. She is one of my biggest inspirations behind this pursuit. My dad never stopped us from achieving anything that interested us. This is the most important reason behind where I am today with my passion towards motorcycling right now. He always encouraged us no matter what.

My previous rides were

My Father bought me my first bike in 2014, the Royal Enfield Classic Chrome 500. A gift from him and a valuable contribution to my journey. He’s been the true captain of my life’s boat. During my initial days of riding I used to go to Lonavala, Rajmachi and similar trails near Pune on my Honda Dio. I enjoy riding two wheelers because I feel free on bikes, they make me feel so much better than I normally would.

My options were  other than the Hero Xpulse 200 4V

Later, I got married but my passion for riding never went away. My husband understood this passion and he also found someone with whom he could live his own dream. Thus, he started riding with me. I was looking for a motorcycle with offroad as well as touring capabilities, so my friends from Pune suggested me to go for the Hero Xpulse 200 4V.

I was always in love with Impulse, so without even delaying it for a minute I went to the showroom and booked it. And as it turns out my husband wanted to make that purchase a birthday gift for me. I was the happiest one could ever be.

I chose the Hero Xpulse 200 4V because

I chose Xpulse 200 because it was perfect for me to explore offroad trails around Pune. After I received it I went for some thrilling adventures around Pune with my friends. It was a great experience.

  • It’s a lightweight bike – This makes the motorcycle agile and easy irrespective of gender or height
  • has good posture – easy to manage on almost any terrain
  • Amazing off-road capability – that too without any modifications
  • decent highway performance – cruises through the highway average of 70-90 kmph without a fuss
  • good mileage – 34-40 on highway with 70 kmph speed

Overall, it’s a good choice. And I’m enjoying how comfortable this bike is. I’m 5’6” and, I won’t say that this bike has a perfect height but yeah, it’s decent for riding.

When you know how to ride and with proper technique, I don’t think height is a problem. The most memorable ride is the one I’m doing right now, the ride towards home. On the highway, I can easily maintain speeds of 90kmph and the bike is still going great.

Thereby meeting friends and family on the way. Upon listening to my plan my husband showed his eagerness to join me. Thus, he too bought a Royal Enfield Himalayan from Pune.

My most memorable rides on the Hero Xpulse 200 4V

I sketched a plan for riding from Pune to Tripura which would be my first long tour on a bike. I fixed the route of 4500 kilometers and decided to visit:

  • Goa
  • Mangalore
  • Bangalore
  • Chennai
  • Vijayawada
  • Vizag
  • Bhuvneshwar
  • Jamshedpur
  • Malda
  • Siliguri
  • Guwahati

The number of kilometres clocked so far on the Hero Xpulse 200 4V

Till now I have done 6200 kms on my bike.

I would recommend/ Not recommend that girls/ ladies buy Hero Xpulse 200 4V because

I will recommend the hero Xpulse 200 4v because it’s great for off-roading and highways. However,  I would like to mention is that the handle riser should be pre-installed. This is because it boosts the riding dynamics of the bike on both, off roads and Highways.
