Triumph Speed 400 ownership review – Speed Triumphs?
June 7, 20241)1. So lets go ahead and meet this new Triumph Speed 400 owner – introduction
Hello I’m Navnit Amrutharaj, a fellow bike enthusiast and a motorsport fan, residing in Pune. I am one of the few bikers who got the opportunity to try out the new Triumph Speed 400,and now ,am a fully fledged owner of one.
2. Triumph Speed 400 “1st or Upgrade” – is this your 1st or an upgrade from your existing bike
This is an upgrade from a Harley Davidson 750. Since my father loves cruiser bikes, he recommended me to try and test out the Speed 400.
3. THE contenders – other bikes that you had shortlisted
While buying speed 400, there were many options I had in my mind, some were:
- Honda Highness,
- Royal Enfield Continental GT,
- Yamaha FZ-X
- and Java motorcycles.
While comparing and keeping value for money in mind, Triumph Speed 400 was the optimal option.
4. For the ride – what made you buy the Triumph Speed 400
I prefer a sports bike over a cruiser one, yet I love riding this bike because of the torque it delivers at such low speeds. The key reason I bought the bike would be due to its torque-y nature and how easily it is handle and maneuver at high speeds without experiencing heavy vibrations or any speed wobbles. Speed 400, from a reputed Triumph Motorcycles, did not disappoint my expectations for a 400cc cruiser bike.
It is beautiful machine which is loud enough to draw attention on roads. The metallic glossy finish is one of the best things I love about the bike. Rather be a day or a night, this bike draws eyes towards itself. When it comes to riding comfort, the bike is really comfortable and is a good option for long rides without experiencing any pain while riding.
5. The first ride Experience – how was the experience on the 1st ride
My first ride on the Speed 400 was from Pune To Lonavala. I had a pillion, and the trip was planned during the monsoon season. It was a short and a comfortable ride and I did not experience any difficulty white riding the bike throughout the ride.
6. “A notch above for me, please” – what you like & what can be better
If I had to list down a few key points I love about the bike, it would be:
- Good Seating posture
- Good performance
- Beautiful exhaust note
- Offers above average mileage – 29 kmpl
If there were a few missing things which would have made the Triumph Speed 400 close to perfect would have been:
- A better TFT display
- Riding modes
- Map assistance
- Bluetooth connectivity
Overall, this bike is perfect for city rides and Tarmac roads. For bikers who wish to ride on all types of roads, Scrambler 400 is a better option over Triumph Speed 400.
